On Friday, July 21st, the maniacal movie mavens at the American Genre Film Archive return to The Mahoning Drive-In Theater with three 35mm escapees from the asiatic asylum of cinematic demented delights when the AGFA TRIPLE RIPPER returns, for ONE NIGHT ONLY!
From one of the world’s most eclectic film archives comes a triple-header of ultra-rare titles sure to delight the most demented Drive-In devotee, a trio of tales of the supernatural from the Far East, sure to delight, amaze, repulse and confuse those brave enough to endure this NIGHT OF TOTAL TERROR!
We begin with a short, the first segment of the spooky Shaw Brothers anthology horror film HAUNTED TALES (1980), wherein marital bliss is interrupted by a ghostly interloper!
Then, our first fearsome feature flickers to life in the form of RED SPELL SPELLS RED (1983 – presented in an animal cruelty-free version), a tawdry tale of documentary filmmakers accidentally releasing a demon from its slumber, and the marathon of murder that follows!
We then kick things up a notch, with the anarchic arrival of the DEVIL FETUS (1983), a tiny terror that brings with it a tsunami of carnage, messin’ and possessin’ all over town!
If you’ve survived this long, we’ve got one more feature to send you fully over the edge, the ultra-rare Taiwanese E.T. ripoff THE MAGIC BMX (1983)! End the evening with the heart-worming story of a studious young boy who befriends a benevolent and mischievous space baby, and the hilarity and mayhem that ensues!
All films presented on 35mm from the darkest corners of the AGFA vaults, along with totally insane trailer and intermission reels curated by the AGFA team, and live introductions by AGFA’s Head of Film Restoration, Ivan Peycheff!
