On August 5-6, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater and Retroware present the next level of VIDEO GAME WEEKEND, featuring a gaming market in the afternoon, a 30th anniversary 35mm screening of SUPER MARIO BROS. (1993) at sundown, and live gaming on the massive Mahoning screen after intermission, hosted by Movie Dumpster!
Limber up your digits and get ready to hop, bop, dodge and duck as we bring back one of the most interactive, quick-reflex events at the Mahoning, starting off with a video game vendor market, featuring retro gaming and pop culture merchandise!
Once the sun sets, get ready for a bright, clamorous extravaganza, the first big-screen feature film video game adaptation, SUPER MARIO BROS. (1993), hosted by the mad minds at Movie Dumpster! Mario and Luigi (Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo), two average plumbers, find themselves fighting evil in another dimension, going up against the evil King Koopa (Dennis Hopper) to rescue Princess Daisy (Samantha Mathis)! Can two plumbers save the world from going down the drain?
Then, once you’ve replenished your energy levels in the snack bar at intermission, we’ll hold a live video game tournament on our giant outdoor screen, with two different Mario games each night, rambunctiously run by Retroware, who’ll also have NES/SNES Mario game stations set up all through the show!
Vendor market opens at 3pm, film showtime at sundown.
