2 Dates Through Aug 06, 2022

ABOUT ABOUT

Things are going to get weird again at the drive-in on Aug. 5 & 6, when Exhumed Films and the Mahoning Drive-In Theater present REEL WEIRD WEEKEND V! This year we have two more trash classics from the “Sultan of Sleaze”, John Waters, and a double dose of paranoid, drug-induced nightmares!

Jeff Lieberman, director of SQUIRM and JUST BEFORE DAWN, will be in attendance on Saturday night introducing his classic shocker, BLUE SUNSHINE, meeting fans and selling/signing copies of his new book, Day of the Living Me!

This is going to be one crazy weekend that you are absolutely not going to want to miss! All films screened on 35mm!

Friday, Aug. 5 - John Waters Double-Bill!

PINK FLAMINGOS (1972)- Hiding undercover as “Babs Johnson, Divine, aka. “The Filthiest Person in the World”, is challenged by a couple who will seemingly go to any length in order to steal her cherished tabloid-awarded title. Arguably the most notorious midnight movie of all time, which was selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2021!

plus

POLYESTER (1981)- Divine stars as Francine Fishpaw, a put upon suburban housewife with a sharp sense of smell who stands by as her unhappy life in Baltimore begins crashing down around her, John Waters-style. Presented in Odorama! Odorama scratch-and-sniff cards will be available in limited quantities at the Exhumed Films table.

Saturday, Aug. 6 - Drugs are bad for you!

BLUE SUNSHINE (1976)- After a series of bizarre murders, Jerry Zipkin, an innocent man, is accused of the crime and on the run from the authorities while he attempts to unravel the mystery and discover the secret of “Blue Sunshine”. Jeff Lieberman, director of SQUIRM, JUST BEFORE DAWN, REMOTE CONTROL and SATAN’S LITTLE HELPER will be in attendance! Shown from an ULTRA RARE archival 35mm print!

NAKED LUNCH (1992)- David (SCANNERS, THE BROOD) Cronenberg’s brilliant adaption of William S. Burroughs’ “unfilmable” drug-induced novel. Partially based on Burroughs’ real life, the film follows Bill Lee, an exterminator hooked on the pesticide he dispenses, as he navigates a surreal world full of strange people and stranger creatures, while he works on a novel and deals with his drug addiction.
