ABOUT ABOUT

It’s back!  The seventh annual Memorial Day weekend of the living dead returns, and this year it is bigger than ever!  Exhumed Films presents ZOMBIEFEST VII at the Mahoning Drive-In Theater — four nights of flesh-eating frenzy on the towering drive-in screen!  See ten big blood-soaked features in 35mm* from beyond the grave, plus vintage trailers, guests, raffles, prizes and more!

Thursday, May 27 - ZOMBIEFEST VII pre-show:

DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978)- Exhumed Films and the Mahoning Drive-In Theater proudly present Richard P. Rubenstein’s production of George A. Romero’s living dead masterpiece, DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978), as this year’s event opener!  If you haven’t seen this astonishing zombie horror classic, then THIS is your chance!  If you know it well, this is the perfect opportunity to re-visit it with your friends on the BIG SCREEN!  Screenings of this film do not come around often, so DO NOT miss it!

*** PLUS!  The stars of DAWN OF THE DEAD, Scott H. Reiniger and Gaylen Ross — “Roger” and “Francine” (“Fly girl”) — will be joining us for this very special event!  Mr. Reiniger and Mrs. Ross will be meeting fans, signing autographs and appearing for socially distant photographs on both Thursday, May 27 and Friday, May 28!***

The show will kick off with an extended reel of George A. Romero trailers and previews of many of the films we will be screening for this year’s ZOMBIEFEST. It goes without saying that this is one event no horror fan is going to want to miss!  *Digital Presentation.

Friday, May 28:

DEMONS 2 (1986) - Tenants are trapped in a high rise apartment building when a demonic curse is transmitted from a television documentary to a young woman during her birthday party in this delirious, gory, gross-out sequel from Dario Argento and Lamberto Bava.

CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS (1972) -  A theatrical troupe gathers at an island cemetery for an evening of ghoulish pranks, until some uninvited rotting guests show up for the party!  This cheap, early cash-in on NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is a gruesome, atmospheric delight!  From the director of A CHRISTMAS STORY and BLACK CHRISTMAS.

LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE (aka. LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE) (1974) - Here’s a film that we’ve wanted to play for years but the only 35mm print available in the Exhumed Films archive is missing a reel, so we are showing the next best thing: Synapse Films’ beautiful new restoration!  When bodies start turning up dead on the English countryside, evidence, according to the local police inspector, seems to point to a couple of young hippie travelers, but unbeknownst to the authorities it is the reanimated corpses of the recently dead responsible for the attacks.  We are thrilled to finally bring Jorge Grau’s shocking, gory and atmospheric horror classic — uncut! — for the first time ever to ZOMBIEFEST!  *Digital presentation.

Saturday, May 29th:

ZOMBIE (1979) - Lucio Fulci’s ultra-gory, ultra-awesome horror masterpiece returns to the big screen!!!  Something is not quite right on the island of Matul... the dead are returning to life, and soon they will be everywhere and the dead will be among us!  Starring Tisa Farrow, Ian McCulloch, Al Cliver, Richard Johnson,
a jagged splinter of wood, lots of maggots and a spectacular zombie vs. shark fight!  A film that was meant for the giant drive-in CinemaScope screen!

***WARNING: Due to the VIOLENT and GROSS nature of this film, vomit bags will be available FREE at the Exhumed Films merch table on Saturday night —while supplies last — for any patron experiencing stomach distress during the screening of ZOMBIE.***

RAW FORCE (1982) - A group of martial artists en route to an island reputed to be haunted by ghosts of dishonored martial artists are in for a wild ride when they run afoul of cannibal monks, zombies, human traffickers, deadly man-eating piranhas, an Adolf Hitler lookalike and more in this crazy ASF exploitation movie that must be seen to be believed!

***Actress Camille (I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE, WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO SOLANGE) Keaton will be in attendance, meeting fans, signing autographs and appearing for socially distant photo-ops!***

I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE (1943) - From legendary horror producer Val Lewton and director Jacques Tourneur comes this rarely-screened, disquietingly atmospheric horror classic!  When a nurse arrives on a Caribbean island to care for the wife of a plantation owner, she soon believes that her charge is a zombie and becomes increasingly more ensnared in the local voodoo rituals.  This is one screening that should NOT be missed by horror fans in 35mm!!!

Sunday, May 30th -

DELLAMORTE, DELLAMORE (aka. CEMETERY MAN) (1994) - Michele (STAGEFRIGHT, THE CHURCH) Soavi’s fantastic adaptation of the popular Italian Dylan Dog comic book, is a brilliant, bloody, surreal and very funny story of a caretaker in charge of a cemetery in which those interred will not stay dead!  Starring Rupert Everett, Francois Hadji-Lazaro and Anna Falchi.  This film has often been requested for ZOMBIEFEST, and we are super-excited to finally include it in the line up.  *Digital presentation.

HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY (1981) - Part of a quintet of super-gory, over-the-top zombie features from cult favorite Italian horror director Lucio Fulci (see also: ZOMBIE, THE BEYOND & GATES OF HELL)!  What gruesome secret is hiding in the basement of the Freudstein house?  Those who find out don’t tend to live very long!

THE CHILD (1977) - A newly-hired housekeeper discovers the strange young girl of the house possesses the uncanny ability to raise the dead from their graves in Robert Voskanian’s nearly forgotten, eerily effective, drive-in horror gem!
