He went to camp, saved Christmas, and rode again, but now, ERNEST GOES TO THE DRIVE-IN!
Through nine films and countless TV commercials in the 1980s and 1990s, Jim Varney brought to life one of the most iconic handymen/annoying neighbors/adventurers of the era, Mr. Ernest P. Worrell, and for ONE NIGHT ONLY, Sunday, October 17th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater dips into the Disney vault and presents two classic family films featuring that fumblingly friendly fool, ERNEST GOES TO CAMP (1987) and ERNEST SCARED STUPID (1991), both on 35mm, with accompanying Ernest movie trailers!
First up is Ernest’s maiden voyage in a studio feature, ERNEST GOES TO CAMP, in which the hapless handyman attempts to tame a group of youthful delinquents while saving the camp from developers. Will he success? Will the youth and camp be saved?
Next, it’s Ernest battling an evil troll in a detour into Halloweirdness in ERNEST SCARED STUPID, featuring effects by The Chiodo Brothers!
Join us for a fall night filled with frolic and frights, for a special rarely-screened 35mm double feature from the Disney vaults, knowhutimean?
