ABOUT ABOUT

On Friday, June 16th and Saturday, June 17th, get out your flashlights and Ouija boards, when Exhumed Films and The Mahoning Drive-In Theater throw a “Haunted House Party”, with your host, best-selling author Grady Hendrix (HOW TO SELL A HAUNTED HOUSE, MY BEST FRIEND’S EXORCISM, FINAL GIRLS SUPPORT GROUP)!

Grady will deliver a soul-searing, sense-shattering, brand new, multimedia introduction each night before the screenings that is guaranteed to change your life. He'll also be signing and selling
books and whatever you happen to show up with!

On Friday, June 16th, we cautiously open the front door to our lovely new home, only to find it’s haunted by a POLTERGEIST (1982)!  Tobe Hooper directs this 80s big-budget classic about a home invasion of the supernatural kind, with Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams having serious buyer’s remorse.

Then we join a paranormal investigation group as they seek to find the truth about THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE (1973)! Roddy McDowall stars as the team leader, following in the (deceased) footsteps of those who dared venture into that cursed residence before him.

The evening wraps up with BURNT OFFERINGS (1976), DARK SHADOWS creator Dan Curtis’ entry into the 70s supernatural shocker sweepstakes, as a family moves into an old mansion with really, really affordable rent, and pay the difference in terror!  Starring Karen Black, Bette Davis, Burgess Meredith, and Oliver Reed in a dependably not-subtle performance.

Saturday the 17th begins with one of the greatest haunted house films of all time, Robert Wise’s THE HAUNTING (1963), based on the novel by Shirley Jackson.  Richard Johnson leads a group of investigators into the infamous Hill House, site of innumerable murderous miseries over the years, to settle once and for all whether the house is truly possessed. A classic ghost story to make your skin crawl.  In the night.  In the dark.

We then shift to the 80s with the chilly Canadian creeper THE CHANGELING (1980), with George C. Scott as a grieving man who rents a spacious old house and finds that he’s not quite as alone as he thinks.  Someone, or someTHING makes its presence known, and sends him on an investigation into the house’s troubled past.

In our final feature, they’re baaaaack, in POLTERGEIST II: THE OTHER SIDE (1986)!  The Freeling family may have fled their fearsome former home, but sinister forces find them again as they battle for their lives with the help of Zelda Rubinstein and Will Sampson.  Featuring Julian Beck as the creepiest unannounced porch guest in film history.

Gates open at 6pm each night, with Grady available for books, autographs and photos, showtime at sundown.
