ABOUT ABOUT

On Sunday, June 23rd, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater Icon Series presents a tribute to the King Of The B-Movies,  Roger Corman, with a rare 35mm screening of his ode to ocular anomalies, X: THE MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES (1963), starring Ray Milland as the prof with a peeper problem…depth perception that goes WAY beyond 20/20!

Instantly…he had the most powerful eyes in the world…

GAMBLING…He  couldn’t lose in Las Vegas!

WOMEN…Did they have the right to know what he could see?

SCIENCE…He could see the center of the Earth and to the end of the Universe!

Roger Corman directed this horror/Sci-Fi thriller (his 39th film in 8 years!) for American International Pictures, Kings of the Drive-In, involving a scientist (Milland) testing an experimental drug on himself to improve eyesight beyond that of normal humans, resulting in his ability to see through objects…and beyond!  A fun mind-bender with Dr. Xavier’s visions presented through the modern miracle of Spectarama! Plus, big-screen Don Rickles as a carny!

From American International Pictures to Filmgroup to New World Pictures, Roger Corman gave the world 56 films as director, and almost 500 as producer, filling theater and home video screens with everything from westerns to biker films, monsters to World War I flying aces, and gave early breaks to numerous future directors like Ron Howard, Martin Scorsese, Peter Bogdanovich, Francis Ford Coppola, Joe Dante and James Cameron. The Mahoning Drive-In Theater salutes Mr. Corman, and thanks him for all the thrills with this X-cellent single feature screening!

The Mahoning Icon Series features luminaries of Drive-In Cinema who helped shape the genre and whose work reverberates in art and culture, with preshow trailers and introductions celebrating the work of those ozoner legends whose work was view through countless windshields of the past.

Arrive early for themed DJ sets, raffles, themed food items and more fun before the sun sets and the starry sky descends onto the massive Mahoning screen!
