The Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Lehighton, Pennsylvania is thrilled to welcome MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 creator Joel Hodgson in person for a two night MST3K fan celebration October 4-5, featuring double features of MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER classics spanning the history of the show, personally selected by Joel, followed by a special “Joel’s Drive-In Pick” to close the evening, presented on 35mm!
Joel will meet fans in a special VIP Q+A photo op session before the show, and General Admission ticket holders before and between the films once the gate opens. Also, Joel will hold a general Q+A each night before film one, introduce the movies, and judge a costume contest where YOU can dress up as your favorite MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER character, or character from a film riffed on the show!
We’ll also be joined by Harold Bucholz, MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 Executive Producer and Writer, Writer on the MST3k Comic book, and creator of the Sweetest Beasts book series! Harold will be selling and signing his books and MST3K Season 12 DVDs/Blu-Rays and joining in the fun all weekend!
Friday night kicks off with Joel's episode of the youth-gone-wrong maniacal melodrama I ACCUSE MY PARENTS, followed by Jonah's episode of the McDonald’s-sponsored madness of extraterrestrial friendship and uncontrolled wheelchair descent, MAC AND ME!
We then fire up the vintage Simplex E-7 projectors for a 35mm presentation of “Joel’s Drive-In Pick”: THE BIG CIRCUS on 35mm! Will a murderous saboteur sink a down-on-it’s luck big top? An all-star cast including Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Rhonda Fleming and Howard “Floyd The Barber” McNear fill three rings of terror in this Irwin-Allen-penned rarity!
Saturday kicks off with Mike's episode of interstellar intrigue in SPACE MUTINY, then we go from up in the stars to deep undersea with Emily's episode of BEYOND ATLANTIS!
We round out the night with “Joel’s Drive-In Pick”, THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD on 35mm! See Ray Harryhausen’s first installment in his Sinbad series – filmed in Dynamation! With Kerwin Matthews at the titular titan of supernatural seafaring adventure, Kathryn Grant (Mrs. Bing Crosby) as the Princess in distress, and Nino Falanga as “Gaunt Sailor!”
Arrive early to hobnob with Joel, Harold and fellow MSTies from far and wide as we celebrate the one night that it’s okay someone is talking through all the movies!
