On Sunday, October 22nd, the Master Of Menace returns to the mighty Mahoning Drive-In Theater screen with a 35mm double dose of delightfully devious cinematic shocks, starring the one and only Vincent Price.
It’s VINCENT PRICE TWICE, featuring two of the iconic horror actor’s most beloved films! We begin with the classic American International Pictures Edgar Allan Poe adaptation THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH (1964), starring Price as Prince Prospero, a rapscallion royal who throws a decadently devious party at the palace on the hill, while the poverty-stricken villagers below are ravaged by the titular Red Death plague.
Will the aloof rich outwit the and outlast the dreaded disease that scratches at the castle walls? Or is their fate to be the worst of all? Directed by Roger Corman, this gorgeously gruesome tale was the most lavish of the AIP Poe cycle, and is sure to dazzle with its widescreen cinematography (by Nicholas Roeg) and blazing color.
We follow Poe with The Bard, as Vincent Price stars as a sinister Shakespearean actor who sets about murdering his critics in the style of famous plays, in THEATER OF BLOOD (1973). Will the police foil his deadly act before the final curtain falls? Costarring Diana Rigg, in the film Price later cited as one of his favorites.
We’ll also have a reel of vintage Vincent trailers, a Price-themed raffle, live DJ set and more fun.
On Sunday, October 22nd, the Price is right!
