On Aug 25th, The Mahoning Drive-In Theater presents a SCORSESE SUNDAY single-feature 35mm screening of Martin Scorsese’s dark ride into the madness of urban isolation, TAXI DRIVER (1976), on 35mm.
“On every street in every city in this country, there’s a nobody who dreams of being a somebody. “
That nobody is Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro), an ex-marine Vietnam vet living a bleak existence in grimy 70s New York City, driving a cab at night and mingling among the nocturnal creatures of Fear City. A controversial, powerful look at the underbelly of society through the eyes of a lonely man who decides he can’t take it anymore, and turns vigilante with a one-way ticket to oblivion.
Featuring Jodie Foster in a star-making turn as an underage prostitute, Harvey Keitel as a street pimp, Peter Boyle as a fellow cabbie, Cybil Shepherd as Travis’ object of affection, and an eerie score by Bernard Herrmann.
One of the greatest, and most disturbing films of the 1970s, and all time, on the big, BIG Mahoning screen!
Gates open at 6pm. Showtime at Sundown.
General Ticket: $8 (per person). Kids General Ticket: $5 (under 13yrs).
General + Extended Pass: $16 (per person).
