2 Dates Through Oct 26, 2024

ABOUT ABOUT

On Friday, October 25th and Saturday, October 26th, classic horror in malevolent monochrome rises from the tomb as The Mahoning Drive-In Theater presents our annual UNIVERSAL MONSTER MASH VIII!

Two nights + six films + 35mm…an equation that adds up to TOTAL TERROR!

Join us for our final weekend of the 2024 season with Bela, Boris, Lon, Elsa, and Dwight, better known as Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Wolf Man, The Bride of Frankenstein and Renfield (or Fritz), as we wrap up 2024 with the films that first defined cinematic horror, the Universal Monster Classics!  As always, we offer iconic films and creatures each night, with deep cuts from the Universal Vault for maniacal monster mavens.

Friday begins with the film that began the Universal Monster genre for the sound era, DRACULA (1931), starring Bela Lugosi as the Carpathian Count who doesn’t drink…wine.

Then we see what happens when even a man who is pure of heart and says his prayers by night, doesn’t watch his back when the wolfbane blooms and the moon is full, as poor Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney, Jr.) becomes THE WOLF MAN (1941)!

We round out the night by CALLING DR. DEATH (1943), starring Lon Chaney, Jr. as a doctor who may have murdered his wife…only the horror of hypnotism can reveal the truth! The screen’s first INNER SANCTUM Mystery, based on the popular radio series!

If you survive Friday night, we’re ready to put your nerves to the test on Saturday, beginning with a monster science created but could not destroy, the unholy doing of a certain Doctor….FRANKENSTEIN (1931), starring Boris Karloff as the creature, and Colin Clive as the man who dared play God!

Once the monster gets lonely, it’s time for a BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935), in the unforgettable form of Elsa Lanchester!

The evening draws to a close as, out of the fog, lurks a hideous NIGHT MONSTER (1942)! A tale of revenge in a remote swamp, as a wronged man eliminates those responsible for his sorry state, one by one!

Arrive early for themed DJ sets, raffles, food items and photo ops, and join us in celebrating our Final Weekend of 2024 with some of the greatest horror films of all time!
